Human lie detector, Garrison Taggart, doesn’t have time to deal with touchy-feely junk like “trust issues” or “feelings” after his wife left him a year ago. Classmates are harassing his young son, and the family’s Wyoming ranch is probably being sabotaged by rival and neighbor, Hank Brand. If only Garrison could get close enough to Hank to use his secret power to uncover the truth in a person’s mind.
 
When schoolteacher Sara Lopez raises concerns about his son, her efforts elicit a nasty response from Garrison…and a strange headache. His rejection doesn’t help her confidence, either. She’s picking up the pieces of her reputation after a catastrophic breakup with town big shot, Hank Brand.
 
Garrison wants to get closer to Sara, but his fear of betrayal stops him cold. But when Hank threatens sweet Sara, Garrison’s non-involvement policy flies out the window.
 
Before she can explore her feelings for Garrison, Sara uncovers Hank’s insane plan to hurt Garrison’s son. To protect his son, she puts herself in harm’s way, but her efforts aren’t enough, and Hank kidnaps both Sara and Garrison’s son.
